The Association of Lactose Intolerant People Spain (ADILAC) is now collaborating with BCN Gluten FREE 2019. The organisation and ATYPICAL BCN, the company behind the International Trade Fair for Gluten-Free Products and Diets, have reached an agreement to reserve a space in the trade fair for dairy companies that produce lactose-free products, as lactose intolerance is very closely linked to coeliac disease.
People allergic to gluten have the predisposition to develop other food intolerances, and one of the most prevalent is lactose intolerance. This intolerance is produced by a deficiency in the production of the enzyme lactase, which causes changes in the intestinal mucosa. The lack of lactase means that the small intestine, the area most affected in coeliacs, is unable to digest lactose, and passes it on to the large intestine where adverse reactions are produced.
For this reason, and thanks to this collaboration agreement, companies collaborating with ADILAC will receive a 10% discount if they reserve a stand before 28 February, and members of the organisation will receive a promotional coupon when purchasing their entrance tickets. ADILAC, for their part, will help in the promotion of the event.
At present, 34% of the population suffers from lactose intolerance. For people with coeliac disease, lactose intolerance can be temporary, as when the intestinal mucosa is regenerated through adherence to a gluten-free diet, natural levels of lactase production can return.
